Reg Dietitian & Sports Nutritionist - Göteborg and online
Idrottsdietisten is translated to "The Sports Dietitian" which indicates one of the areas that we take care of, but not all. If you are an athlete or elite athlete and need someone to look into your diet and/or race nutrition, you have come to the right place! My second area of expertise are medical diagnosis that regards diet and nutrition intake, such as overweight and obesity, underweight, eating disorders, IBS and other.
You can visit me without a "remiss" from your doctor. For some diagnosis however, it is neccessary to meet your doctor or Vardcentral before starting your counselling or treatment to make sure that we treat your symptoms the right way. You can also be advised to take some blood tests before we meet - ask me or your doctor if that might be the case for you if you are unsure.
The office is located in the center of Gothenburg/Göteborg, and is easily accessible from the Central Station (Centralstationen) ans other bus, tram and boat stops (Lilla Bommen, Nordstan, Brunnsparken, Operan are all close) . You can also book video sessions if you live far away or find it more convinient to meet up online. Welcome to book your appointment when you are ready to start your journey towards your better self!

Sports Nutrition
I help all athletes that wants to make sure they eat (and drink) in according to their training goals and energy needs. My background as a track and field athlete will help me understand what it takes to perform, and my academic background in Clinical Nutrition as well as a post-University grade in Sports Nutrition from the International Olympic Committee will help me understand your specific needs from an academic - and science - point of view. You are also welcome to get my help if you suffer from RED-S - Relative Energy Deficiency in Sports - a state of long-term energy deficiency where the energy intake (food and beverages) has been to low ans caused symptoms such as fatigue, halted training response and development, loss of menstrual cycle (women), depression, low libido and stress fractures or injuries.
I have worked with athletes in the following sports, and more: runners and ultra runners, cyclist, track and field, football, handball, cross country skiing, olympic lifting and strength training, boxing and other.
You will find me in Göteborg, Sweden, or meet up in video sessions online. Welcome to contact me for nutritional guidance to perform at your very best!
Eating disorders
Eating disorders can come in many forms. Idrottsdietisten meet people with anorexia, bulimia or other types of disordered eating patterns and it is possible to get healthy again, but unfortunately there is no quick fix to these types of challenges. If we work systematically and with the heart at the right place we can find a way to make your relationship with food and energy better again!
Most often you also need to see a psychiatrist or similar parallel to our sessions so that you are ready to make the necessary diet changes needed in order to get healthy again. If you have had a very limited food intake or are underweight, you also need to see a doctor that can help you with some blood tests and general medical assessments.
In athletes we sometimes recognize a too restrictive diet intake as "RED-S" = Relative Energy Deficiency in Sports. It is not a proper medical diagnosis but if you feel that you recognise the symptoms (less training results, loss/changes in menstrual bleeding patterns, tiredness, feeling cold, loss of appetite and/or low weight) you probably need to change your diet regardless.
You are very welcome to contact Idrottsdietisten for nutritional assistance and I hope to see you soon!
Weight management for overweight or underweight
OVERWEIGHT or OBESITY
Do you need to loose weight? Overweight and obesity is very common among the population and recently 51% of the adults in Sweden had either overweight (BMI 25-30) or obesity (BMI 30+). Although BMI is a good overall value to look at populations, at Idrottsdietisten we use booth BMI (= based on your body weight) and waist circumference to determine if you are currently in need of loosing weight and what goal that is relevant for you.
To loose weight, it takes a change in diet and sometimes adjusted or added training. The most important aspect is however the food and beverages that you consume, and to find a long term way for you to manage your weight and stay there without too many "unnecessary" changes in you lifestyle or diet. The earlier you can start turning your weight around towards a normal weight again the better.
UNDERWEIGHT
If you recently lost weight and a doctor has ruled out any other reasons for this than a too low energy intake and/or too much training, we can help you to gain weight again! The first step is to acknowledge your current weight and BMI and your estimated energy need, and we take all the necessary steps from there. The goal is for you to understand how much you need to eat to get healthy again and how to keep that weight long-term.
Normally a BMI under 18,5 is considered underweight, but we can help you if you are over that as well if you feel that you need assistance gaining your balance again before you go too far.
IBS - Irritable Bowel Syndrome
IBS can be manifested as bloating, stomach cramps, constipation or diarrhea. It is important that a doctor has ruled out any other reasons for these symptoms before you start your IBS treatment with Idrottsdietisten. The goal with a dietitian treatment for IBS is to understand better what your body reacts to, and how you can eat enough from what is left after you might need to limit some of the foods that makes your stomach react badly.
We use FODMAP in the treatment, but not only. Consider some of the food adjustments as long-term, but also know that you although probably will be more confident why and how your body reacts after only a few weeks of following the given recommendations.
4-6 sessions are normally needed to get to the bottom of this diagnosis. Welcome to book your appointment!
Welcome to contact me for more information or booking a first visit as soon as you are ready! Take care!
